Ryder Receives Annual Commissioner's Business Recognition Award for Its Support and Partnership With Neva King Cooper Educational Center
Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a leader in transportation and supply
chain management solutions, today announced that it has been honored at
the Florida Education Commissioner's 23rd Annual Business Recognition
Awards, which was hosted by the Florida Education Foundation and the
Florida Department of Education. The award recognizes Ryder for its
commitment to improving the academic success of all students through its
support of Neva King Cooper Educational Center, a special needs school
for children and young adults with significant intellectual disabilities
located in Homestead, Florida.
"Ryder and its employees have provided volunteer and financial support
to help make the holidays more comfortable and enjoyable for students
and their families," said Alberto T. Fernandez, Principal, Neva King
Cooper. "We are most grateful for their generosity and support
throughout the years."
For the past 12 years, Ryder System has provided support to Neva King
Cooper Educational Center in a heartfelt effort in which Ryder
management and employees have volunteered their own time and have given
money to benefit the school's population of severely disabled students.
This labor of love and generosity has truly made a difference for those
in need. Beyond providing students with Christmas toys and their
families with Thanksgiving meals, Ryder provides the school with
day-to-day needs for its students.
"Ryder is honored to be recognized for our support of Neva King Cooper,"
said Ryder's Chairman and CEO, Greg Swienton. "Our personal lives have
been touched by this school and its remarkable students and committed
faculty, and we are pleased that we've been able to help these families
have a better quality of life."
