Ryder shortlisted for Apprenticeship of the Year at Motor Transport Awards 2018

Ryder, a leading independent provider of commercial vehicle contract hire, rental, and fleet maintenance, has been shortlisted for Apprenticeship of the Year at the Motor Transport Awards 2018.

This prestigious award celebrates excellence in apprenticeship schemes. Each shortlisted company has to demonstrate success in attracting and retaining high-quality recruits who continue to make a positive contribution to their business and wider industry.

Ryder launched its National Apprentice Programme in 1994 and since then has employed 245 apprentices. On average, Ryder receives 160 applications for the 10-12 apprentice vacancies it has each year across its 23 service locations.
Key to the success of Ryder’s apprenticeship programme is the pastoral care and support given to apprentices, with each one assigned a one-to-one mentor for three years to coach and support their development.

John Murray, Ryder Sales & Marketing Director, said: “This is great news. We’re immensely proud of our National Apprenticeship Programme and we believe it deserves the wider industry recognition that the Motor Transport Awards provides.”

For more than 30 years, the Motor Transport Awards have been seen as a benchmark for excellence among UK road transport operators, vehicle manufacturers, and other innovators. The awards are judged by senior figures within the transport industry.

The Awards take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane on 4 July. The black tie event is attended by 1,500 transport industry professionals.
